Aww we love Barcelona! It is always fun being there. And more fun of course when we got to join the Developer Day in the AppCircus event organized by the Dotopen team. Besides being a showcase of app development, AppCircus Developer Day is a free event where more than 300 students and developers of all levels are able to talk with industry experts and explore new opportunities to create apps that generate income.
The winner this year was DogFight, a game app that has reached the number of 1 million users in just 3 months. Joaquín Grech, a Spainsh engineer, created it almost by himself – and for the record: this guy has been developing since he was 8 years old! The second position went to DressApp, a pocket closet that helps you to dress in the most fashionable way.
Alongside the awards were four workshops where we had great opportunity to manage one ourselves. We had around 30 participants and showed them how to develop with Google App Engine and Bluevia. But the highlight was to present the Developer Economics Report 2012! We love sponsoring this useful source of information that helps us to provide and also to share our thoughts with the public and the attendees of our events.
After our workshop, we offered a speed mentoring session where we talked to the second winners of the event, DressApp, about how they can empower their creations.

Oh! And by the way, Dogfight can now be selected to participate in the Mobile Premier Awards that will take place in Barcelona in February 2013, alongside with the Mobile World Congress. It’s good to know that developers are becoming more and more interested in creating apps that cover the necessities its users, as reflected in the selection of finalists in AppCircus Developer Day. This is something we always admire in BlueVia.
So have you guys created an app similar to these? How would you manage to monetize it? Keep it up and get registered in BlueVia!
